Skin Pollution
Project details
2009/10
Skin Pollution evolved as an extra thought from The Bubble Dress. It is based in a world where practitioners are stripped of all resources and left only with day-to-day objects.
Is it possible to use the precious objects we hold closest to us, that hold the most sentimental value, as a material; embodying and transferring that value without changing or tainting the original objects? Skin Pollution is a transient microcosm that depends on the individual.
My most precious objects are my rings, as each one has been given to me by someone I love. Each ring embodies the person who gave it to me, so by branding the individual forms into the skin I can temporarily carry them with me.
